Fast-track renovation of guest rooms at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, formerly Le Royal Meridien Hotel.
Project Overview
Fast-track project consisting of the civil, mechanical, electrical and interior decoration works for the renovation of guest rooms at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel (formerly Le Royal Meridien Hotel). A new Executive Club Lounge was formed and 233 rooms plus corridors were renovated, all in less than 25 weeks.
The 2nd to 5th floors, comprising of 179 rooms and 4 corridors, underwent a soft renovation, while the 6th and 7th floors underwent complete renovation, including the conversion of 81 existing guest rooms into 54 VIP/Executive Suites, the formation of the new Executive Club Lounge, the addition of a new circular staircase and the renovation of 2 corridors.
The overall renovation required the removal of all existing furniture and finishes, such as fixed and movable furniture, carpets, wallpaper, curtains, marble from floors and walls, and sanitary-ware. The 6th and 7th floors also required the removal of suspended ceilings and existing services, as well as the demolition of the majority of internal partitions. New partitions were constructed using lightweight block and plasterwork.
The interior decoration works of guest rooms included new carpets, parquet flooring, wall coverings, fixed furniture, bespoke joinery, louvered shutters, curtains, roller blinds, light fittings and paint. Bathrooms were fitted with new finishes, such as granite to floors/walls and maple panelling to walls, in addition to new sanitary-ware, fittings and bathroom accessories. Construction of the new circular staircase included mild steel framing, polished stainless steel cladding, glazed handrails and granite finish treads. New fire protection and fire-fighting systems were also installed.
All civil, mechanical, electrical and decoration works, as well as the structural design for the circular staircase, were carried out by GPZ’s specialised divisions.
