Fast-track construction of a climate-controlled open-air commercial complex, first of its kind in Bahrain.
Fast-track construction of a commercial complex developed over a 24,000m2 plot. The innovative concept of the Walk provides a climate-controlled open-air mall which is the first of its kind in Bahrain. The development consists of 10 free-standing shop buildings for restaurants and cafes, varying in size from 88m2 to 340m2, plus a single storey hypermarket building (2,600m2) built on a shell and core basis.
The buildings consist of a concrete framed structure with hollow-core slabs and insulated concrete block walls. The external façades are finished in a combination of regular plaster, a decorative pigmented plaster (Conmix Glitterlite) giving a sparkling effect, anodized aluminum frames and tinted double-glazing. The buildings have various bespoke architectural features which were manufactured and installed by several of GPZ’s specialised divisions. GPZ’s MEP Division carried out all mechanical, electrical and plumbing services installations, with the exception of MEP services within the shops which were left for the tenants to conclude.
Upon completion of the project, GPZ was appointed by Supa Save Bahrain WLL to carry out the complete fit-out works of the hypermarket building to accommodate Waitrose supermarket. The scope involved comprehensive MEP works, civil works and all internal finishes, with a contract value of US$ 1.1 million over a contract period of 5 months.
